Where Your Safari Takes You

lion in serengeti

Serengeti National Park.

The heart of any Tanzania safari and the stage for the Great Migration, where more than a million wildebeest and zebra move north between the Seronera plains and the Mara River crossings.
Migration river crossings: July–October. Calving in the southern plains: January–March.

Ngorongoro Crater

A collapsed volcanic caldera holding one of Africa’s densest concentrations of wildlife, including black rhino — the reason many travelers complete the Big Five here in a single day.
Excellent year-round; the crater floor is greenest from December to March.

Tanzania Safari FAQs

The best time for a Tanzania safari is from June to October during the dry season, when wildlife viewing is at its peak and witness the Great Migration in the Serengeti. Also, December to March during Calving Season.

Our Tanzania safari packages start from $200 per person per day for camping and group safaris, $900 per person per day for mid-range lodge safaris, and $1,500 per person per day for luxury safaris. A typical 7-day Tanzania safari costs about $3,000 per person on a camping trip and $4,500 to $6,000 per person on a mid-range lodge itinerary, including park fees.

A 5 to 7-day safari is ideal for exploring Tanzania’s top destinations like Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park.

Yes, Tanzania is considered one of the safest safari destinations in Africa, especially when traveling with a licensed and experienced tour operator..

Yes. Zanzibar is a short flight from Arusha or the Serengeti airstrips, and most travelers add three to five nights on the coast at the end of their safari.

Both. Mid-range and luxury safaris are private, with your own 4×4 and guide. Camping and budget safaris can be joined as small group departures to keep costs down.

Most visitors, including US citizens, need a tourist visa, which can be obtained online or on arrival. A yellow fever certificate is required only if you are arriving from a country with a risk of transmission. Check current requirements with your embassy before travel.

Every package includes park entry and crater fees, a private 4×4 Land Cruiser with a professional guide, accommodation, all meals on safari, drinking water and airport transfers. International flights, visas, travel insurance, drinks and tips are not included.

Book three to twelve months ahead for travel between July and October or over Christmas, when lodges in the Serengeti and around the Ngorongoro Crater sell out. For the April to May green season, three months is usually enough.
